Say the word honeymoon, and you'll probably think of sandy beaches, romantic strolls and lounging in hammocks made for two.
But here at Hotels4U, we like to mix things up a bit. Our hotels are an ideal base for honeymooners who want to laze around on the beach, but for those of you who want to find something a little bit different to do with your loved one as well while you're away, then read on for some ideas...

Cycling in Portugal
If you're an active pair, then the idea of seeing a country on two wheels might be just the thing. In which case, why not swap your beach towels for a cycling holiday? Portugal's Algarve region is as picturesque as they come, with coastal and inland cycle routes taking you down quiet country roads and through rural towns, or up mountains depending on how adventurous (and experienced) you are. Guided tours are available for all levels, but if three's a crowd, then hiring a couple of bikes, grabbing a map and exploring by yourselves is definitely worth a try. Find hotels in Portugal here.

Walking in Italy
If your honeymoon isn't complete without that romantic walk, what about a holiday that offers exactly that? Florence is well known for its air of wistful romance, but at peak times the city can get a little crowded. So for a quieter alternative, take some time out in the rolling Chianti countryside (yep, home to the wine). While walking through the region you'll pass no end of Tuscan vineyards and olive groves which you can explore on your own or as part of a tour, where you'll visit local wineries and sample local fresh food. Don't worry, there'll be plenty of hotels around for you to rest your tired feet at the end of the day.

Island hopping in Greece
For a mix of culture and - let's be honest - lazy sunshine, Greece is a brilliant choice for honeymooners looking for the best of both worlds. After a couple of days exploring the history of Athens and Olympia, the crystal clear waters surrounding the islands are just a scenic train ride away. Once you're there, make a hotel in Rhodes your base and charter a boat for a few days' secluded sailing, stopping off at small harbour towns and little-known beaches along the way. Let a captain, skipper and on-board cook sort out your meals and itinerary while you lie back and enjoy each other's company.
