Family holidays can be pretty stressful at times, especially when you're travelling with kids. You can end up worrying about keeping your children safe and occupied for two weeks rather than relaxing and enjoying some quality time for yourself. Choosing the right destination and accommodation is important, as it means adults can then just chill out while the kids are off having fun.

So what accommodation features should you look out for, and where in Europe can you find them? Here are a few family-friendly holiday suggestions from the team at Hotels4U...

Chilled Out Adult Only Zones in Tenerife

Holidaymakers in countries like Tenerife looking to escape the noise of excited kids can retire to the peace and tranquillity of an adult only zone (often a separate wing) at their hotel. These zones are usually for over 18's only and allow guests to enjoy the luxury surroundings of their hotel in undisturbed peace and quiet. Several Tenerife hotels also have pools specifically for adults making your sunbathing experience that little bit more chilled out.

Kids Clubs in Greece

Many hotels across Europe have plenty of fun activities for kids to keep them occupied. Children in Greece are welcomed with open arms and the Greek people will do anything they can to entertain them. Look out for Greece hotels that have a Kids Club, so your young ones will be able to head off of a morning and spend the day enjoying a number of exciting activities. Meanwhile, adults will be able to enjoy some ‘alone time' down by the pool or on the beach, safe in the knowledge that the kids will be having an absolute blast.

Beach and Pool Activities in Spain

As well as Kids Clubs, most hotels in Spain and other popular destinations have entertainment teams that organise a range of fun activities in and around the pool or on the beach, for people of all ages. Adults can join in too but if you just want to sit back and soak up the rays, let your kids take part in some of the events available. From water polo and darts to throwing and catching games, the kids will love the activities provided while you lie back with your feet up. Feel free to join in though too as it can be a fun way to release a bit of energy and break up a day of sunbathing!

Relaxing Spas in Turkey

Blessed with gorgeous sunshine and scorching temperatures, it's no surprise that spa hotels are so popular in Turkey. Many of the top hotels have their very own Turkish bath or hamam, as well as providing relaxing treatments and massages. It's a great way to take a break from the sizzling Turkish sun while being pampered at the same time and you'll be able to take it in turns to look after the kids as you enjoy a treatment or two each. Thermal pools can be found all over the country and the mud baths in Dalaman are also an absolute must - you may even return home looking 10 years younger!

So if you're travelling on holiday with the family this year, why not make it that little bit more chilled out by heading to one of the many resorts that cater for kids, whilst giving adults the chance to relax and unwind.
