Santa Cruz is a bustling city and shipping port located on the northeast coast of Tenerife. It is both the administrative centre of the western Canary Islands and the capital of Tenerife. The city boasts wide avenues, squares and exotic landscaped areas displaying beautiful examples of modernist architecture all amidst a stunning backdrop of mountains. Santa Cruz harbour is one of the busiest in Spain hosting container ships, cruise liners and inter island jet foils and ferries. Every year, the city dresses in its best to welcome the Carnival, where thousands enjoy the spectacular pageantry and entertainment. Shopping is excellent and visitors discover several plazas offering international brands at “tax free” prices. Santa Cruz is close to many beautiful beaches, the city of San Cristobal de La Laguna, and Teide National Park. Tenerife South Airport is 75 km south of Santa Cruz.
