Holidays to Florida

Offering white sandy beaches, world-class theme parks, stunning hotels and wild wetlands, Florida is truly a state that has it all.
While millions flock to the sunshine state each year to explore the magical kingdom of Walt Disney World and Orlando’s many other theme parks, there is so much more to be discovered and enjoyed in Florida.

Why holiday in Florida?

Stretching out to divide the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, the southeasternmost state of Florida is the perfect suntrap, rightly earning it the name of ‘the sunshine state’. This vibrant state is perhaps best-known to tourists for its incredible theme parks and attractions.

First and foremost, Walt Disney World in Orlando offers visitors an experience unlike any other, truly creating a vast, magical world that’s almost TOO convincing; a must-see for visitors with children. Orlando’s Universal Studios also offers an incredible theme park experience that takes days to be fully explored and enjoyed.

Beach holidays in Florida

The state is also home to a number of stunning white sandy shorelines; each week Miami Beach attracts thousands of sun-loving locals and tourists alike, who can enjoy a beach holiday in true American fashion.

You can find a range of all-American beach activities to enjoy at many of the state’s bright sandy beaches too, including jet ski rental, volleyball and surfing.

Food & drink in Florida

America has a general reputation for large, hearty portions of food that have plenty in the way of flavour, and you’ll be pleased to learn that Florida is no exception! From a range of succulent seafood to a batch of delicious desserts, Florida has a few local specialities that you’ll want to sample at the source.

Let’s start simple. The Cuban Sandwich is a product of Cuban cigar industry workers who moved to Florida in the mid-1880s; their winning combination of Cuban bread, ham, pork and swiss cheese makes for a delicious sandwich that has been passed down and refined over generations.

Florida also has a range of fresh and tasty seafood, including the Florida stone crab, served with a delicious mustard dipping sauce. For the best taste of stone crab, many locals recommend ‘Joe’s Stone Crab’ in Miami Beach. Those who have a sweet tooth are also sure to love Florida’s signature desserts, which include fresh strawberry shortcake, and hearty key lime pie!

What to do in Florida

Other than Florida’s popular theme parks and beaches, the state is also famous for its many immaculate golf courses and facilities. Golf enthusiasts often make a pilgrimage each year to enjoy the many pro golf tournaments that take place around the state, and sink a couple of holes themselves!

To experience Florida’s wild side, you might like to visit the Everglades national park. Around 30 miles west of Miami, this colourful 1.5million-acre wetland seems a million miles away from the busy beaches of Miami that are just a short 40-minute drive away. Here you can enjoy guided boat tours and visit galleries and museums, all while surrounded by hundreds of curious animal species.
