The area of Lake Garda consists of several different towns all surrounded by Lake Garda itself, which is Italy’s largest lake. Most of the towns dotted around the lake are fairly laid-back and quiet; however there are plenty of water sports to take in and some of the resorts can be quite lively if you’re the adventurous sort.
Desenzano Del Garda is a popular town with a number of historic sites including the Cathedral of St Mary Magdalene and the Tower of St Martin. You’ll also find three beaches as well as vibrant nightlife, so it’s perfect if you want a mix of relaxation, culture and fun.
Limone sul Garda is a popular resort that was once only accessible via the mountains or lake until a road was built in 1932. Today it sees a number of tourists heading to its coast for its stunning scenery.
Probably one of the most popular towns in the region, Sirmione can only be entered by going over a bridge through the walls of a castle. This town is truly charming with narrowing winding streets and a fine selection of restaurants, bars and cafes.
