The Lazio Lakes are a beautiful region of volcanic craters and bright blue waters, just north of Rome. Dotted around the lakes are medieval towns, which will give you a glimpse of the region’s history.
If you’re looking for an Italian beach holiday however, head to Sperlonga. Its picturesque towns of white houses are somewhat reminiscent of the Greek isles. Built as a medieval fortress, you’ll find plenty of narrow paved streets to wander.
If you haven’t been to Rome, however, it is definitely worth a visit. Pomezia is a great place to stay if you want to be close to the city, but away from all the hustle and bustle.
