Mykonos Town is the exciting capital and main port of Mykonos Island and is situated on the west coast just 2 miles from the airport. The city is a breathtaking mix of traditional whitewashed houses, typical blue-domed churches, interesting shops and famously trendy stylish nightlife. There are a wide variety of attractions and areas to explore. Visitors can take a boat trip to one of the many superb sandy beaches and coves easily reached from the harbour, or stroll the promenade with a myriad of shops ranging from local markets to arts and crafts, jewellery and sophisticated boutiques with the latest designer labels. Galleries, museums and churches are dotted around the maze of tightly packed lanes and there is plenty of room to people-watch from the trendy waterfront cafes. Photography enthusiasts can feast their lenses on the Little Venice district, the church of Panagia Paraortiani, the oldest and most-loved church on Mykonos, and the photogenic 16th century windmills on the hill above the town.
