Platis Yialos is one of the most popular beaches on Mykonos Island, with golden sand and clear turquoise waters. This attractive and quite lively beach resort is on the sheltered south coast, 2 miles south of Mykonos Town and just 20 minutes from the airport. There are plenty of water sports including instruction in water-skiing and diving. Plati Yialos beach has all the usual beach facilities with delightful beachside terraced tavernas and bars. The nightlife is a lot more relaxed than Mykonos Town but the proximity of the capital means visitors can easily include some nights in this famously energetic spot, just a short taxi ride away. Often used as a base for exploring neighbouring resorts, there is an attractive array of taxi boats shuttle visitors to Elia beach, Agrari beach, Paradise beach and Super Paradise beach. Most of these beaches have a few tavernas and many are fine for nude sunbathing. The holy island of Delos is also a boat ride away and very popular with visitors.
