The ancient and romantic city of Verona is located in Northern Italy near to Lake Garda and has a history dating back to the Romans. It has some of the finest architecture in the country, crossing the Roman, Gothic and Renaissance periods. The Arena is the most notable building in Verona and is the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Northern Italy. There are also plenty of other Roman remains, beautifully preserved palaces and Renaissance churches to be admired. Of course Verona is famous for being the mythical home of Romeo and Juliet and Casa dei Giulietta (Juliet’s house) is a popular attraction, whether or not the Capulet family resided there-we don’t know but it has the famous balcony.
