Zante, also known as Zakynthos, is a popular Greek island in the Ionian Sea. It's characterised by three different geological areas: the northwest is extremely mountainous; the central island is a fertile plain, rich with vineyards and olive groves; and the south, the most popular part of the island, has plenty of beautiful beaches. Zante's most famous landmark is Navagio Beach. This scenic cove is surrounded by high white cliffs and is only accessible by boat. Navagio, which means shipwreck, was named after the MV Panagiotis sunk in 1980; the remains can still be seen. Also be sure to check out the numerous blue caves, at the north of Zante. These caves are made of white rock, but when the brilliant azure blue sea reflects on them, it creates an interesting and beautiful effect! Hotels4u.com has options in Zante for every budget.
