Agadir has beautiful weather all year round and a stunning backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas mountains so it's no wonder it's southern Morocco's most visited city. It's particularly popular with Europeans, escaping the grim winter at home. A city with a very modern flavour (much of the city was destroyed in an earthquake in 1960), it's a fantastic place to soak up the sun on the lovely beaches or strolling along palm-lined boulevards. There are plenty of restaurants and bars, combining Spanish, Arabic and Berber cuisines. A particular highlight is the Suq al-Had market, filled with the spices of North Africa, and you'll find wonderful views over the city from the ruins of the Agadir Kasbah.
