Es Castell, the most easterly town in Spain and first to get the morning sun, is steeped in military history which can still be seen today in its architecture. The most obvious is the central square, which was the main parade ground, with on the south side has a British military museum. Es Castell is a small, relaxing village with a Bohemian flavour, proud of its British ancestry and situated on the gently-sloping east coast, just 3km south of Mahon. There are no beaches in Es Castell, though on Menorca you don't have to travel far to find them! There is a number of restaurants and bars in the harbour which provide a sun soaked, relaxing, laid back and fun filled nightlife.
