Innsbruck is a beautiful Austrian city nestled at the base of the majestic Alps. Having hosted two Winter Olympics (in 1964 and 1976) the city is still known worldwide as a centre for winter sports. During the winter months it's an excellent choice for skiing, with several ski resorts located nearby. As the weather warms, mountaineering is a popular sport, and some of the nearby resorts provide skiing well into the summer months as well. The city itself holds many notable buildings and interesting museums in its historic town centre.
