Konakli is a small traditional town situated 16 kilometres west of the resort of Alanya and close to Side and Antalya on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. Set in fantastic rural surroundings, Konakli has a selection of shops and a fairly limited number of bars and restaurants. A large sand and shingle beach offers a sanctuary for the sun lover and there are plenty of water sports to choose from, making this the perfect resort for a quiet, relaxing break. Known to have offered accommodation to traders on the old Silk Route, there are some remnants of this history. Close to Konakli you will find the ancient fortress of Alarahan and the Kervanserei of Alarahan, where the caravans of Silk Road traders would have stayed.
