Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands and has been made famous by Louis de Bernieres novel and film 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin'. With long sandy beaches and turquoise seas to the south east this island is a sun worshippers paradise, to the north the coastline is more rugged with backdrops of pine forests which shelter wonderful pastel washed fishing villages. Some of the best wines in Greece come from Kefalonia due to the vineyards which thrive on the green and fertile land.
