We booked this hotel because it is on one of our favourite little coves. We used to visit this cove regularly when we lived in Cyprus a few years ago. The hotel is a small family run business. The rooms are a bit dated and could do with a general make-over and a thorough deep clean. The pool is a good size with a small kids pool next to it. During the day it is nice and quiet at the hotel. If you are looking for kids clubs and 24hr animation then this is not the hotel for you. We travelled with a 4 year old and she occupied herself in the pools or building sand castles at the beach. The hotel is on the very outskirts of Protaras and you are away from all the hustle and bustle but busses run into both Protaras and Ayia Nappa regularly if you wanted to go somewhere more lively. They do however get very busy and we were left standing more than once at the bus stop when the bus was full and just drove past. There is not much evening entertainment at the Hotel and the bar area is almost deserted after dinner time. There are a few small supermarkets about 15mins walk away to get some bits and bobs. The prices at the hotel bar are not as competitive as in Protaras itself 3.70 Euros for a pint of beer and between 4-5 Euros for a cocktail. In my opinion the hotel is more geared towards older people and there are many that return there year after year. We had read in previous reviews about the friendliness of the staff, this however is something that I can not confirm after this holiday. Most of the staff seemed indifferent, stressed and I rarely saw a smile on their faces. Stelios behind the bar in the evening however is great and makes great cocktails. Internet access is also quite expensive and connectivity is terrible. We paid 10 Euros for 2 hours to use over 7 days and didn't manage to use it all in those 7 days as we were always kicked off almost as soon as we logged on. The food is great. During our 14 day stay there wasn't a day when we didn't like the food. No fast food, but a lot of nice Cypriot dishes and always a good choice of salads and vegetables and yes they do recycle some of the food from the previous day but why not! If we have a lot of leftovers from the previous day at home I do the same. Would I go back? To Cyprus definitely, but not sure if I would go back to the Mimosa :-)
